Larry Bagnell

Larry Bagnell, MP YUKON

The Honourable Larry Bagnell is currently a member of the Queen’s Privy Council, serving as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Indian and Northern Affairs with a special emphasis on Northern Economic Development.

Being appointed to the Privy Council is the latest step in a long career of public service that has included work at both local and national levels.

First elected as the Member for Yukon in 2000, Larry has combined constituency work with committee work, distinguishing himself as a tireless champion of Yukoners and a capable, energetic member of the government.

Larry has served as the Chair of the Foreign Affairs, Defense, and International Co-operation Caucus. He was also a member of the Standing Committee on Industry and the Standing Committee on Transport.

Larry represented Canada at the meeting of the Asia Development Bank on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs. He was the only new member of caucus, representing Canada in the 2000 annual Canada/US Parliamentary Association that deals with issues between the two nations.

His past employment includes a lengthy career with the federal government, which culminated in his appointment as the Director for the Yukon of Industry Canada.

The City of Whitehorse recognized his tireless dedication to community service with a Volunteer of the Year award in 1999.

A graduate of the University of Toronto, Mr. Bagnell has Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees.
